TREK - Lantau Peak & Dragon's Back, Hong Kong, 3D2N | #CourageInMotion | May 2020

Ever thought of going to Hong Kong for a hike? If not then you are missing out. It is the best way to see the incredible forests, wild isolated beaches, and city views. Lantau Peak is a must for any hiker. At 934 metres, it's the second highest peak in Hong Kong and the climb is stunning. A moderate to challenging trek with steep inclines and unevenly places steps make this an interesting one. The cultural treasures sprinkled along way make it well worth the climb.

An easy hike with spectacular views, Dragon's Back boasts breathtaking panoramic views of tall skyscrapers, coastal shores and its surrounding mountainous region. You can hike up and down within 2 - 2 and a half hours. There are many spectacular vantage poiints throughout the trail for water breaks, snacks and taking photos. This is a beginner friendly hike where you can practice your photography skills and admire Hong Kong's scenery without the crowds.

Itinerary Overview

Arrive in Hong Kong. Sightseeing, Shopping. Early night.

  • Depart Hotel at 6am to Lantau Island
  • 7am at the trailhead, the Nam Shan pavillion, on Lantau island.
  • Taking the Lantau trail section 2 path
  • Climb up to the top of Sunset Peak (869m)
  • Lunch on the peak.
  • Head down to Pak Kung Au - halfway to the end.
  • Hike up Lautau Peak, the second tallest summit of Hong Kong at 934m.
  • Hike down towards Ngong Ping 360
  • Climb the steps to the big Buddha for photo opportunity
  • Scenic cable-car back to Tung Chun
  • Back to Hotel
Sunrise Trek to Dragon's Back
  • Depart Hotel at 5am to To Tei Wan
  • Witness beautiful sunrise at 7am at the hilltop (284m)
  • Descend to trailhead
  • Quick breakfast at Shek O Beach
  • If time permits, we could attempt the Twins, a series of 1210 steps, an excellent training for a more challenging treks
  • Lunch in Stanley
  • Back to Hotel or direct to the airport for departure to Singapore
