This 32.5km hike takes you through the Jirisan National Park, thought to be the oldest and most famous national park in South Korea. It’s named Jirisan (Jiri Mountain, 智異山) because it was believed to have the power to give common people wisdom.
This treasure chest of nature includes a sunrise summit of the highest peak on mainland South Korea, Cheonwangbong (1915m), the most beautiful scene in Jirisan. There are 16 peaks that are higher than 1500m on the main ridge!
At a Glance:
Night Flight to Seoul
Transfer to Jirisan National Park (approx 3.5 hours by road).
Relax and prepare for trek. Dinner and sleep as early as possible.
Accommodation very close to park entrance and start of trek.
Hike from Yeonhacheon shelter along the ridge to Jangteomok shelter, including summits of peaks, such as, Yeongshinbong (1651m).
Up early for sunrise on Cheonwangbong (1915m) before a descent to Jungsan-ri (arriving by lunchtime).
Drive back to Seoul (3.5 hours).
