It's much easier to remain within the boundaries of where you feel comfortable than it is to face the fear of venturing beyond them. This weekend ATC took 7 Junior trekkers from one 'comfort island' to another.
They work hard to reach their summit; they grew as an individual and a team. With the support of ATC member Jo Ford, the Junior Trekkers learnt about will power and how they can develop their inner sisu. After the whole experience, they appreciated their second 'comfort island' even more.
By Hiking Gunung Bentan these 7, 8 and 9 year olds got out of their safe cocoon and got muddy, very wet and had an awesome time! These environmentalist even collected empty tin cans at the summit to keep the trail as clean as we would like to find it.
The weekend was not over after the hike, there was waterfall swimming, rubber tapping, fishing, a mangrove tour, seafood diner, campfire and a day of water activities at Canopi Resort.
By limiting yourself to what you already know, you're likely to miss out on life experiences and personal growth. These Junior Trekkers took on a new mindset, “Does this scare me? Then I have to do it.” The energy once their reached their peak of 340m was fantastic. They were so proud of themselves and we are of them too. Well done Junior Trekkers!
Not a iPad or iphone in sight or requested all weekend!
#WalkWithCourage to the Roof of Africa. The only all women’s group throughout the trek with 2 children aged 10 and 11. A phenomenal success for the team and a beautiful journey shared by 11 strong trekkers.
